For beginners
This game is simple. Don't overthink it. Just focus on guessing your opponent's hand.
If you think it's difficult, play defensively. Accumulate strong numbers and deceive your opponent until the deck runs out!
You can start developing a strategy once you've gained some experience.

🔷Preparation

0. Decide the order of play in advance.

[If you find common methods like rock-paper-scissors a bit boring, you can shuffle the cards, draw one card at a time in turn, and have the player with the highest number start.]

1. Shuffle the cards and create a draw pile.

Place the draw pile horizontally, then place the “Sword of Victory” vertically, face up, so that it stands perpendicular to the draw pile.

You can also place the (Sword of the End) and other similar items here, but since it’s a hassle to retrieve them, stack them face up next to the draw pile—except for the Sword of Victory.

This is called the “Noble Phantasm Storehouse.”

【If playing with 6 people, you may prepare another set. You are free to either create a deck on the opposite side or combine the two 40-card sets.】

*When playing with 3 people, a 20-card set is sufficient. If combining the two 40-card sets, it’s easier to keep the game flowing if you limit cards numbered 0, 10, and 9 to one copy each.

All players draw one card each from the deck.

Then, draw one more card each to form your hand.

[Call one card the “Main Card” and the other the “Support Card” → Both are in your hand.]

Everyone except the first player places their Support Card face-down on the table. Once everyone has only one card left in their hand, give the signal to start.

If someone still has two cards, they’re thinking—please wait for them! By reducing your hand to one card, you signal to your opponents that your turn is over. *This is to prevent card swapping or mix-ups.

2. Which card will you make the winner? Strategies vary—guessing your opponent’s hand, winning by luck, or winning through influence.

For each win, you earn 1 PREUVE. The first player to collect three PREUVES is the winner.

When it's your turn, return the cards to your hand, then use your playable cards followed by your support cards , passing the remaining three cards to your opponent's turn.
The game begins when everyone has placed one card face down on the table .
Players who are not taking their turn will only have one card left. To prevent situations where someone points to the wrong card, and to maintain fairness , players must always have two cards in their hand!

🔷How to Play (Basic Rules)

① The player going first draws one card from the deck.

② Place the card whose effect you wish to activate face-up in front of you. “This is called a ‘Used Card.’”

[From this point on, place cards on the left side so that the faction [number] on the right is visible, and stack them on top of each other.]

The order in which cards are discarded is used for strategizing and reading your opponent’s hand.

* The card’s ability will always activate.

* The faction of a card placed in the “Used Cards” area is not counted toward your faction total.

❷ Place cards that your opponent was forced to discard. The “Used Cards” in step ② consist only of cards you played yourself.

For step ❷, arrange the cards your opponent was forced to discard—whether by your own action or by an effect—next to the “Used Cards” from step ②, leaving a space between them.

③ From your hand of three cards, select one to place in the “Used Cards” pile. Then, from your remaining two cards, choose one to place face-down in front of you as an “Ally Card” (a face-down card on the play area). (This signals the end of your turn.)

Resolve the card’s effect, then proceed to your opponent’s turn.

If, as a result of an effect, you are left with only one card in your hand, draw one card from the deck to replenish it. You must always have exactly two cards in your hand: one Main Card and one Ally Card.

④ Repeat steps ①, ②, and ③.

⑤ The game ends when the deck runs out.

When the deck runs out, the remaining players reveal their hands.

The player with the highest total faction points wins and earns 1 PREUVE.

The first player to earn 3 PREUVES wins. (Simplified Version)

End of the Game and Notes

If the deck runs out after drawing a card, that becomes the final turn.

Place one card from your hand into the used pile; if it’s a card with an effect, activate it, and then the game ends.

If there is no deck, or if an effect prevents you from drawing—such as when an opponent has two or fewer cards in hand—do not activate the effect; simply discard the card (place it on the field). *There are some exceptions to this rule.*

* If, during the final turn or while executing card abilities in sequence (such as drawing from the deck), the deck runs out or you are unable to draw a card, the game ends immediately.

The player with the higher faction value in their hand wins. (You must have exactly 2 cards in your hand.)

*If the game ends because there is no deck left or because one opponent’s hand has 2 or fewer cards, any effects that would cause the opponent to discard their hand, etc., are ignored. *Some exceptions apply.

*If the Power [number] is the same, it is a draw. You do not receive a PREUVE.

◆◈◇◈◆◈◇◈◆◈◇◈◆◈◇◈◆◈◇◈◇◈◆

Note

🔷If only one player remains during the game

*The game ends at that point. The remaining player earns 1 PREUVE.

🔷If the second Assassin card is played and both players are eliminated in a duel

Both are considered defeated, resulting in a draw.

◈Game Variants & Rules◈

◈Simplified Rules: Age Croix → Play using the base board and simplified rules. See the rules above.

◈ROYAL DEATH PENALTY Rules → Even stricter official rules. All losers lose 1 PREAVE.

=ー=ー=ー=ー=ー=ー=ー=ー=ー=ー=ー=ー=ー=ー=ー=ー=ー=ー=ー=ー=

→ ~ ・Simplified Version ・5th, 7th, or 16th Battle ・Endless Battle ・Mood of Numbers ~

・Simplified Rules → Designed to help players learn the game.

・RDP Rules → Add ROYAL DEATH PENALTY to the rules above.

・5 or 7 or 16th Battle → First to reach 5, 7, or 16 PREAVE wins.

・Endless Battle → Play indefinitely; the player with the most total PREAVE wins. ∞ PREAVE

・Mood of Numbers → Assign numbers to players; the player whose number matches the roll of a die or similar determines who takes the turn.

The ROYAL DEATH PENALTY rule is intended for players who understand the characteristics of the cards, as it requires strategizing on how to protect and accumulate PREAVE while battling. *If you have no PREAVE, your score will drop to - (negative). If a dominant player emerges, temporarily forming an alliance is a viable strategy.

♦ LOYAL DEATH PENALTY Rules ♦

In the LOYAL DEATH PENALTY game, the rules are the same, but it's no longer a first-to-3-point game.
Each
player
starts with 1 point (PREAVE) , and points are increased or decreased based on wins and losses in each match. The final ranking is determined by the points remaining at the end of the game: regular rules .

All games are played from the start, but
you begin with at least 10 PREAVE, and if you run out of PREAVE, you lose: there is a stakes rule.

This is a game with very strict and demanding rules, requiring serious thought and play. It is essential to be faithful to the rules and to remember each effect and rule. Please play while strictly adhering to the rules and card effects after you have memorized them.
especially,
When playing, always maintain the relationship between your main card and your allies card. Casual, simplified ways of holding cards are not allowed. It's okay to place two cards face down (as long as the relationship between the main card and the allies card is clear), but you must always place one card face down on the floor and observe the signal to end your turn when you place the card face down.

And something I want you to be aware of is
the existence of the 10 card . Whenever your hand changes, such as when you draw a card on your turn, first add up the power (number) of your main card and the card you drew. For example, when you draw a card, add it up with your main card , not with any face-down allies.

After that, if you haven't drawn a 10, or if you have drawn one but the total in your hand is not 13, take the face-down collaborator card and continue the game. Just be honest with the people around you and declare that everything went well. *Even if you place a 10 card face down and end your turn, you still lose if the total of your hand is 14 or more at that point. Holding onto 10s beyond a total of 13 is a foul, so please be careful.
If someone is inevitably going to break the rules here, I think it will be necessary to create fair rules, such as appointing a single referee.

♦ Add privileges that each player possesses. *Use during your turn. The privilege can only be used once per turn.

♦ Under the LOYAL DEATH PENALTY rule ♦ If you want to make it even stricter...

Noble Privilege : By paying 2 PREAVE ( which disappears ) , you can see all of one opponent's hand (only you can see it) . The cost increases by +2 each time you use it on the next turn (if you pay enough for all participating players, you can reveal the target player's hand to the entire field ).

Champion's Privilege : (Only once per game) Possible if both players have 3 PREAVE . Place 1 or more PREAVE on the betting area and declare what the opponent's two cards are. *You do not need to specify each card individually.
(Opponent): Before the number is declared, there is time to place a PREAVE bet that is greater than the opponent's BET. If your PREAVE is greater, the opponent's privilege is canceled and
the PREAVE in the betting area is lost.
If the opponent then places a higher PREAVE bet, the right to activate the privilege transfers to them. The privilege can then be canceled by returning the bet. When this privilege is activated, the opponent reveals all of their cards, whether correct or incorrect.

If correct, the game ends and you receive the PREAVE from the BET area . If incorrect, you return the PREAVE from the BET area to your opponent, return your hand, and continue the game.

Relief measure (This card gives a slight advantage to the person who wins with a 10, similar to the card game "Big Two").
+0 to 4 : Sword of the End
If you have the Sword of the End in your hand or on your side of the field, and a faction battle occurs (deck runs out, kills, etc.), you can add +4 to your faction. ( Only one can be held permanently; however, if you gain +4 during a faction battle, it will be removed. If the faction is 10, the effect can be activated even if it stacks .)

ROYAL DEATH PENALTY:
If you have the Sword of the End in your hand or elsewhere, and a 10-cost card triggers a faction battle (e.g., deck depletion, killing), you can gain +4 to your faction. ( Only one copy is free; if you acquire a second or subsequent copy, you lose 1 PREAVE for each additional copy after the game ends . If you gain +4 during a faction battle, the PREAVE is lost. If this effect overlaps with the 10-cost effect of Sword of the End, only one can be activated. )
